a reporte frum jack

i got a lot ta tell ya, i bin so busy i hardly had time fer mi three naps a day. they couldint run this outfit with out me actin as boss donkey an its a good thing i got forty four years of experiunce cos i need all of it mos days.

i'll give ya the bad news first. poor old osullivan donkey had a long fite with the infections in his feet and finally asked sheila ta let him go on account he jest couldnt fite no more. this was the same time helen the sheep was tellin sheila she was ready to go on accounta the years pilin up on her and the arthuritis and what not. so the vitinry helped them both ta lie down for the big sleep. they are together in the groun, botha them got their own qwilt to lie on an helen is lyin smack between osullivans legs so the both a them took the journey together. and then doncha kno cory donkey who had helth problems forever went on the same trip. we were all feelin it pretty hard i kin tell ya.

then sheilas ole cat oliver who had twenny one years on him just slid away one nite. sheila was settin up with him and she felt overcome with a sadness so insteada sleepin, which she couldint anyways, she come out ta the barn jus as the sun was comin up. and there was a serprize waitin fer her.

the serprize come frum a donkey name sally who just got here. sally dont say nothin about it but it seme she bin runnin with some bad boys and got in a family way, she just dont tell nobody when the child is suppose ta come. well, it slipped into this world just as ole oliver cat was slidin out. the baby is a strappin big lad and they called him oliver acourse. that boy hit the groun runnin and we all bin tryin to manage him and edjicate him ever since. simon donkey what got the cripple back end was missin his buddy osullivan real bad and he appoint himselve minder to the baby and spen every minite fussin over him like an ole biddy. i take a turn mindin him and let me tell ya, hes a caution. what with chasin cats and sheeps and goats and runnin like a speed demon he make our heads spin. and i gotta run everthin else on top of babysittin.

i bin doin more electrikals with my human frend brian and he say he dont know how he ever got anythin done without me right there glued to his side. hes a nice human but he sighs a whole lot. i dont kno why. an im still givin tours tho sometime comin bak down the hill i git goin pretty good and cant always stop so a few guests haveta step lively to avoid gettin mowed down. they don seem ta mind too much. im sticking ta the ole sayin that with age come privilege.

my frend laurel passed on some piktures took by shari and susan an im puttin them on here fer ya ta see. you mite wanta admire my blak shiny summer cote. i put a lotta work inta growin it and now my winter layer is comin in good so the blak dont show so much. i loss three more teeth so my five squares a day are all what ya call porrige or gruel but i tell ya, i dont feel a day over twenny an that smart alec vitinry gal kno she bin in a fite when she git done doin my dentals. an i got mi bubbel room fer tha winter and mi blankit so i sa bring it on. thats all fer now but i wil reporte back when i got time.

Jack, we are enjoying your fine reporte and I am happy to hear you say "bring it on." You might want to send some of that sentiment to Sheaffer, who I think is just overwrought awaiting the winter season.

Please tell Sheila and all that we send our most heartfelt condolences - shepherding all those kind souls on to the next place has to have been a sad job. I'm glad Sally arrived with Oliver who it sounds like was meant to liven things up.

You are as busy as can be and I'm sure Sheila could not do without you.

Rafer and Redford send their very best wishes and I think Redford still has plans to take a trip up north to find you one of these days!

Camryn here:
I am sooooo very sorry for all the loss you've felt on your place. Specially for your Sheila. People just don't handle loss as good as us I think. We know da lost ones aren't really lost at all after all.
Dat Oliver is so darn cute, his timing coming was perfect for sure. I'm sure he's giving your Sheila lots to smile about.
Great name too, Oliver is my peoples last name after all!!!

billie, sonny dont care for wintur no matter how ya slice it. he says he aint wearin no cote this year neither but i think he shuld at lease consider it. hes what ya call a intelekshual and he thinks to hard on everythin. i send yer thought to sheila and she appreciate it. that baby donkey is a holy terrier and he keeps us all on our toe.

Jack

Its grand to hear from you, even though you have had to pass on some very sad news. Please pass on condolences to Simon & Sheila.

Baby Oliver looks like he will give them a new & much needed focus & I'm sure those who have passed will be watching him too.

I am also glad thqat you are embracing warmth for the winter. I believe Sheaffer is being uncommonly stubborn on the point of wearing a blanket. Being such a slender (aka seriously underfed!)soul,I welcome not only the protection from the Scottish rai; but the additional layer of insulation!

Kindest regards

Dougie

dougie i will pass on them condolunces to sheila thank you. regardin sonny and the wintur cote - i aint scareda much but tellin him hes "uncommon stubburn" would put him in one a them broody states that would take him years ta git over and cause the resta us so much torment wed hafta leave town. i juste hope he figgers it out on his own somehow.

Jack, it's great to hear from you. Sorry about all your/Sheila's losses this summer. It's very hard to lose loved ones. Please convey our condolences to Sheila and Simon. The arrival of Oliver seems like it was perfectly timed to help everyone over the hurdle of mourning. We don't know how you keep up with running such a large and busy place. It's all Pnut and I can do to keep this farm operating smoothly, and that's with just one cat and two humans! Love the pictures. Pnut and I would love to have a baby donkey but our woman will have none of it. I swear, sometimes they are just obtuse for no particular reason. Stay well and warm my friend!

Hi Jack,

It is always good to hear from you.I know how busy you are acting as the boss and social co-ordinator of the Primrose Donkey Sanctuary. My human and our Girl Friday were to visit you and Sheila during the summer and they came home with many stories.

I am sorry to hear about all the sadness you and your donkey friends have had to endure these last few months but I am sure Baby Oliver has put a spring in everyone's step. He certainly is a big strapping lad. I am sure with your guidance he will grow into a well behaved, happy adult.

It is great that Sheaffer and Company keeps in touch with you and Sheila so all your news can be passed on. Please keep us up to date with Baby Oliver and his adventures and of course, your adventures as well.

Sheaffer's Fan,

Willy

Don't worry Dougie, Sheaffer is fine but the woman is busy, busy, busy. She needs to be cloned I think so she'll have time once more to fulfil her duties as Sheaffer's scribe.

Dougie Donk said...

Thanks you Gazelle. It is very cold here in Scotland & I was worried Sheaffer had frozen to death coz he wont wear a blanket!

Isn't little Oliver the cutest? I put a picture of him on my blog too ...

It's pretty special to have a new baby around ...especially when the past few months have been so rough around the sanctuary...

Hi Sheaffer

Ma is leaving us this year for Christmas so we wanted to wish you and all your friends- those with fur and those unlucky naked ones
a very Merry Christmas!
We are asking Santa to speak to some person named Charles Darwin to see what he can do about getting all of us opposable thumbs. We don't know what they are, but we with them we can open latches, write out own blogs and drive ourselves in a metal tin somewhere warm- where the only place you would need a blanket is when lying on a sunny beach! Happy Holidays to all!!

Dear Sheaffer:

I haven't written in sooooo long, but the man was just in the tooth floater's office yesterday, and he mentioned the woman had been hurt by a non-donkey equine, and I was very sad to hear that. Would you pass on our condolences for us? Also, Sheaffer, I have taken the liberty of using you as a personal reference for our getting a puppy. When the nice lady writes to ask you if we would be suitable parents, please say king things about me. Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Toothfloater's Wife. PS: I think the Toothfloater forgot to hurt the man yesterday. Sorry for not reminding him.

Toothfloater's Wife said...

Sheaffer, me again. Sorry about the typo: I meant "kind" things, not "king" things.

Toothfloater's Wife - Thanks for letting us know why Sheaffer has not been around.

Please pass on "Get well soon" to Lydia & hugs to Sheaffer for a still cold & wet Scotland xx
