I see myself as very much an observer, philosopher and connoiseur of the finer things in life. Imagine my surprise today when the woman announced I was opening my own e-store featuring a line of apparel. called SheafferWear. I was stunned, to say the least. I have always given the world of commerce a wide berth.
It seems the woman has had another of her brainstorms about helping needy donkeys and has decided that using my portrait, with one of my better-known sayings underneath is a grand idea. I think I might have been consulted first. I mean, how would she like it if her face suddenly appeared on say, a bag of dog kibble or new underarm deodorant. I plan to maintain strict control over all phases of marketing. My first idea is that all the needy donkeys should wear one of the said tee shirts. Something more formal like a blazer and ascot would have been my choice, but there's nothing I can do now. I'm a mere pawn in her eternal scheming - she wrote prawn but I made her change it.
Oh well, all I can do is wait and see what happens. Who knows, maybe my tee shirts will be seen on all the famous runways, modeled of course by the sensibly full-figured. The male human suggested we identify ourselves as "Team Sheaffer" but that has the aura of the noise and smells of the pits behind a racetrack. I prefer to be associated with the library of a private gentlemens' club (where tee shirts are not allowed).
My e-store can be seen by clicking the http://www.cafepress.com/sheaffer link at the top right hand corner of the blog. I am researching a fellow called Ralph Lauren to see how he handles his fashion empire.

Sheaffer, your woman is catching on, you better hurry up to catch her on this one....this is a GREAT IDEA, especially to help the poor downtrodden donkeys out there....a caption of SHEAFFER FOR PRESIDENT might be useful as well....hint hint....the smoking jacket and ascot can be the next photo up for use, with the SHEAFFER FOR PRESIDENT on it....smile....your sense of taste IS impeccable...
enjoy the fame!!!!
Mr Gale
Absolutely fantastic! Your excellence has never confused me, Sheaffer, rather it has amazed and delighted me from day one. And that lovely portrait of you...oh, now all the world will be able to see and appreciate your excellence!
I know what you mean about the racetrack thing...I've never been and refuse to go since I heard the spectators actually throw chicken bones and other food scraps in the stands, very uncivilized.
Do you think TJ will get a tee shirt?
GALE....INSTIGATOR....INSTIGATOR !!!!
Mr Gale
i think it will be VERY interesting to see just how far and wide the fabulous merchandise is seen... i'll bet while you may not be surprised the woman will be delighted to see how many people appreciate your musings... we have a rescued goat here with a rescued mini who thinks the goat is her baby!!! they will gladly support donkey rescue... will order ours this weekend
Thank you all for your encouragement. I heartily agree that we should be using this to further my presidential aspirations. I have requested a top hat, though I fear it might make for an extremely tall photo.
I have forbidden TJ to have a tee shirt which means he will somehow immediately get one, because the woman refuses him nothing. I'm sure he will draw the usual rude things on my portrait...He would fit right in at a place where food is thrown for recreational purposes.
topcterv- good for you doing your bit to help those less fortunate. The goat and the mini are very lucky to have found you. Would you consider trading the goat for say, a mini-mule?
What a wonderful T-shirt! I too was (secretly, quietly) wondering about TJ getting his own. I must say though - "SheafferWear" has a very distinguished sound to it. I'm sure it will do well.
Mr. Gale, I'm becoming quite light headed with all this publicity. I sent the woman to check thoroughbred website for wealthy persons and we couldn't find the reference. Do you know which category it's in? As our friend Brenda says "It's all too ickciting!"
sheaffer, while your trade offer is interesting, i fear the goat (aptly named beckham as he distributes head-butts with a vengeance) may be more trouble than TJ??!!! besides, tinkerbelle the mini really thinks he is her baby... he must accompany us for all our activities... always an adventure but not as amusing as yous lately :)))
