A Somewhat Better Day

TJ is being kept out of my orbit and my general state of shock is starting to subside. The woman has been showering me with treats and words of concern, which of course is as it should be. She began clipping my winter coat in preparation for my Saturday parade but we both had severe sneezing fits as a result of flying donkey hair, so she will continue tomorrow. The clippers tend to become overheated and buzzzy owing to my lush insulation. This year there are many bald areas and she is trying to blend those in with creative clipping. What I really need is a stylist.

She continued with the spring cleaning of our barn and now it smells of a detergent called "Citrus Fusion Blast" or some such nonsense. I tasted the bubbles in the bucket and it was most unappealing - not food-like at all. The barn is quite shiny and clean but the dirt has transferred itself to the woman's person and she is a revolting sight.

I await the arrival of Jack with interest but some trepidation. He seems to have a food obsession owing to having been starved and I worry that he might appropriate all the edibles. What if I were to lose weight? That simply wouldn't do, though the woman speaks of it with longing and frets about a thing called "founder". I assume he's not spry enough to chew pieces out of my person...

Sheaffer,
you guys, both being old timers, will get along famously I am sure. Youall can just trade stories of all the things you have seen, and form a "Think Tank" to figure out a way to have the stinging wire thing keep your woman busy while you both go out to inspect the goodies in the gorging place. How are your wounds doing? Getting better I hope....can't have you looking like a poster child for abuse when you go out to woo your public!! Just perk up and give em a REAL show there big guy....show em just how majestic a Donkey can be!

Mr Gale

Sheaffer, I'm keeping fingers crossed that Jack is a distinguished and kind gentleman donkey who has a mild food fetish but is always willing to share once he knows there is plenty.

Sheaffer,
can you get us a photo of what you look like half done and another all clipped? The ones we have of our donkeys are quite funny, especially Dicey, who has 3 to 4 inch long hair....when she gets the shampoo right before clipping, she sort of looks like a drowned rat, but don't tell HER that....she always looks superb when she is done. I like the stylist idea too....

Mr.Gale, thank you for your words of good cheer, I think I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel (hoping it's not a train called Jack).

billie, keep everything crossed, I'm always suspicious of change, but in this case, I can't imagine how he could be worse than TJ. Hopefully, given his advanced age, his teeth are nice and blunt.

Hi Sheaffer,

How are preparations for the parade coming? Has your human managed to finish your hair cut yet? Time is running out. Do you have your sports uniform ready for the big day?

I think you should broadcast to all your faithful readers where and when you will be making your latest public appearance. My mom doesn't like to travel so I doubt if we could attend but I might be able to encourage my humans to attend and check you out in "real life"!!!

Willy

Willy, yes, yes, send your humans! My outfit sounds rather ridiculous - but I must humour the woman. The parade is taking place in Mt. Albert, which is just east of Newmarket. I will be the short, grey, distinguished donkey in the inappropriate costume. Hope to see you there. It would be a great comfort to have some of my own people in the crowd. It starts at 10:30am and finishes shortly thereafter - Mt. Albert is not a large metropolis.
